Serzhong
Serzhong Gewog, located in Sarpang Dzongkhag, is a vibrant and agriculturally active gewog known for its fertile plains and diverse farming practices. The majority of residents are resettled farmers who rely on the cultivation of paddy, maize, vegetables, and fruits such as mangoes and oranges. The gewog’s location in the southern belt gives it a warm and humid climate, suitable for both subsistence and commercial agriculture. Livestock farming, particularly cattle and poultry, also contributes to the local economy.
Brief Background of the Gewog:
Over the years, Serzhong Gewog has seen significant development in infrastructure and public services. With improved farm roads, access to electricity, and reliable drinking water, the gewog is steadily advancing toward socio-economic progress. Educational and healthcare facilities have been established to serve the growing population, and the gewog administration actively supports youth engagement, women’s participation in community activities, and environmental conservation efforts. Serzhong continues to evolve as a promising rural hub within Sarpang.
