Health
The health sector of Sarpang Dzongkhag is committed to providing accessible and equitable healthcare services to its diverse population. The dzongkhag is supported by a small but dedicated team of two staff, including one male and one female officer, who work in coordination with a network of facilities and frontline health workers. The district boasts 2 hospitals and 10 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), which serve as the backbone of healthcare delivery.
Background
To support public health and hygiene, the dzongkhag has successfully implemented 192 functional Rural Water Supply Schemes (RWSS), ensuring safe and clean drinking water for its residents. These initiatives significantly contribute to reducing waterborne diseases and improving overall well-being. Despite its limited staff, the health sector in Sarpang thrives through community engagement, strategic outreach, and a strong network of local health agents. The continued focus on infrastructure development and preventive care helps Sarpang progress toward achieving better health outcomes and aligns with Bhutan’s broader vision of Gross National Happiness.
