Nimalung Dratshang

Nimalung Dratshang, located in Sarpang Dzongkhag, is a growing monastic institution that plays a significant role in preserving and promoting the spiritual and cultural values of southern Bhutan. Although smaller in scale compared to some of the central monastic bodies, the dratshang serves as an important center for Buddhist education and practice for young monks in the region. The monks are trained in basic monastic disciplines, rituals, Buddhist philosophy, and scriptures following the Drukpa Kagyu tradition. The dratshang not only offers spiritual services to the local population but also contributes to community well-being through religious ceremonies, annual lochos, and blessings for households, farms, and public events. Nimalung Dratshang fosters close ties between the clergy and laypeople, serving as a pillar of spiritual strength and moral guidance. It embodies the continued commitment of Bhutanese society to uphold Buddhist values and traditions, especially in the diverse and vibrant context of Sarpang Dzongkhag.
