The Sarpang Dzongkhag celebrated the Second Socio-Economic festival called Foothills Festival on January 29th and 30th 2019 at Gelephu Higher Secondary School ground. The two days festivals was graced by Hon'ble Prime Minister as chief guest, Hon'ble Information and Communication Minister and Hon'ble Agricuture Minister and other dignitaries and distinguished guests both from within and other the Dzongkhags. The thousand including people form 12 Gewogs, civil servants from different Agencies and people from both within and other dzongkhags came to celebrate and witness the celebration. The various agriculture, horticulture and livestock products from 12 Gewogs of the Dzongkhag are displayed and sold to the public. High end hotels, agri-based businesses and others are invited to participate in the festival. The main objective of the festival is to promote local products of the farmers of Sarpang dzongkhags by encouraging them to go for commercial production. There are various games such as full marathon for men, half marathon for women and cross country cycling for both men and women including many fun activities and cultural programs to entertain the crowd came to celebrate the festivals. The two days festivals are concluded with awarding the prizes to the winners and finally with Tashi Labey.
