Coinciding with the auspicious day on bhutanese calendar, Dasho Dzongdag graced the reopening ceremony of long-lost Sarpang Farmers’ Vegetable Market in Gadenchoeling. MI, sector heads, gewog officials and farmers from Shompangkha, Gakiling and Senggey Gewog. The vegetable market established in the year 2008 benefited farmers and people of 3 gewogs for almost a decade but due to an unprecedented flood in the year 2016, Sarpang old town was completely washed away and the vegetable market was forced to remain idle for more than 4 years with the inadequate number of people living nearby. 

However, to mark the importance of agriculture and livestock farming  and to encourage both producers and consumers to go organic, the vegetable market was revamped under the instruction and guidance of Dasho Dzongdag. Out of 9 vegetable sheds, 5 sheds were permanently allocated each to Shompangkha Gewog, Gakidling Gewog, Senggey Gewog,  Piggery Cooperative,  businessman for a restaurant and  will be operating on a daily basis. Remaining 4 sheds is kept provision for open selling, where any farmer from 3 gewogs can come and sell their farm product anytime between 8:00 AM till evening. 

With the reopening of the vegetable market it is expected to benefit the farmers and people residing in 3 gewogs to a greater extent. Visit and grab fresh and organic products at reasonable prices for a better and healthy life.
